Beside the geometrical characteristics of the laser point cloud, the intensities of the laser beams reflected by the object play a much greater role in MLS than they do in ALS. Thanks to the high point density, gray scale images can be created. These images allow the identification of structures in the data which would not normally be detectable due to nonexistent or insufficient geometrical differences.
